Authorities say a South Dakota man convicted in a shooting case scuffled with police after his sentencing hearing and two others were arrested for a fight outside the courtroom.
John Shaw Jr., of Box Elder, was leaving a Rapid City courtroom Friday after he was sentenced to 60 years in prison. He allegedly grappled with deputies before smashing his hand through a glass door leading to the first-floor rotunda of the Pennington County Courthouse.
A fight erupted in the rotunda during Shaw's outburst. Two people were arrested on disorderly conduct and assault charges.
Shaw was treated for cuts.
The 20-year-old Shaw had pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm at a moving vehicle during an incident in February.
