SIOUX FALLS, SD -
O'Gorman football should be plenty exciting this season as Tanner Schulte takes over at quarterback. Head coach Steve Kueter has praised Schulte's leadership skills during the off-season.
The senior will lead an offense built around the rushing game, of course, and a lot of speed. On top of Schulte, look for Eion Donelan to burst through for several big gains. The Knights petitioned up to play in the new 11AAA this season and they got their wish. While their enrollment may not match their opponents, Schulte and company are expecting big things.
"We got the speed. We got a lot of talent this year. I'm expecting a lot of things out of this group. I'm excited," Schulte said.
"I think we're kind of under the radar this year but that's perfectly fine with us. We have a lot of faith in what we have going on here. We're going to be a team built on speed but I think if our O-line performs well, we have a lot of things that we can do," safety and running back Jaden Holzer said.
That O-line's main job will be to keep Schulte healthy. If you'll remember, he broke his tibia against Roosevelt last season limiting the Knights offense in his absence. Other notable returners include Isaac Althoff and Alex Linneman.
O'Gorman opens the season Aug. 30th against Rapid City Stevens.
