SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The Sioux Falls School Board is moving forward toward a policy that would alter the way teachers and their children would interact after school hours.
The district is making a change that could keep teachers from having their kids in their classrooms at the end of the day.
Each school in the district had differing policies on whether or not teachers were allowed to have kids in their classroom, which is why the school board is looking at creating a district-wide policy.
While the original idea made a lot of people angry, the teachers say discussion is taking a positive turn.
"I feel like the conversations have been positive and they are moving in the right direction, which is also a fair direction for teachers who work very hard and are very passionate about what they do," third grade teacher Emily Tomkins said.
The board is taking in the comments gathered at the public meetings and will work on a final version next month.
