Whether you need a new fishing pole, a gun for hunting or even some new clothes, Scheels is a one-stop shop in Sioux Falls. With a recent expansion getting started that's not all you will be able to do.
"Just a better experience that if mom wants to come in and buy some shoes and some new clothing then she can send dad and the kids off to the Ferris wheel for a while. Just have more opportunities for people do more than just shop," Scheels Store Manager Chris Kray said.
Some sections are now closed off. With construction tarps up and various tools around, you know this is no small remodel. But Scheels has vowed to stay open for customers through it all.
"It is a challenge, but we are fortunate the associates here have a great spirits. We have a great team here out of Fargo that is helping lead us," Kray said.
The biggest changes you will notice right now are the south entrance is now completely closed off and every once in a while, things may not be exactly where they once were.
"We have done some overnights we have actually moved our shoe backroom twice already and we will have to more it at least once, if not twice, more," Kray said.
With a year left to make this 100,000 square foot store nearly double in size, energy levels are high and associates are ready to help.
“Everyone has a great spirit and they all know that the finished product is going to be outstanding so it’s going well,” Kray said.
Scheels is expected to be completely finished with the $17.5 million project in May of 2014.
Kray tells us he hopes to have a majority of inside shopping area done by back-to-school shopping this year.
