Saturday Boredom Busters

Enjoy an evening of live music, food and kids' activities during the Downtown Riverfest in Sioux Falls. The free music festival goes from 4 to 11 p.m. along the Downtown Riverfront, which spans from 6th Street to south of 8th Street.  Performers include Burlap Wolf King, Jami Lynn & Dylan James, Deeper Than Square, Main Avenue Warehouse, Billy Lurken and Greyson Schulz. Riverfest closes with a fireworks shows.

The Project S.O.S. distribution of free school supplies to families with limited resources takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Whittier Middle School in Sioux Falls.  Students from all school districts are invited.  Each child must be accompanied by an adult and have at least one form of identification. Whittier Middle School is located at 930 East 6th Street. Go to the east gym door. You're asked not to arrive before 7 a.m.

Learn why Monarchs fly to Mexico during the Migration Celebration at the Sertoma Butterfly House in Sioux Falls. It's part of Sea & Sky Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All activities are included with an admission or a membership. The butterfly house is located in Sertoma Park at 53rd & Oxbow.

Tonight's free Moonlight Movie at Fawick Park in downtown Sioux Falls is Free Willy, rated PG. The movie begins at dusk.  Snacks and refreshments will be sold at the park to enjoy during the movie.

Enjoy country music by The Nearly Wild Band during Sounds at the Falls at Falls Park. The free concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Queen Bee Mill.

Get in a morning of free fishing at Family Park in Sioux Falls. Poles and bait are provided. A South Dakota fishing license is required for ages 16 and up. Hours are from 9 a.m. to noon. Family park is located near West 12th Street and Tea-Ellis Road.

Purchase fresh produce and many other items for sale at the Sioux Falls Farmers Market, across the street from Falls Park.    The hours are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Vendors are also selling their produce and baked goods at the Sioux Empire Farmers Market at the 8th & Railroad Center on the East Bank of downtown Sioux Falls. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
