MITCHELL, SD -

Learn about South Dakota's ancient past at Archeology Awareness Days in Mitchell.  Experts will demonstrate skills used by the first Americans including flint-knapping, hide tanning, archery and pottery making.  You can also visit with archeologists from England's University of Exeter and Augustana College as they unearth artifacts at the Native American Village on the Shores of Lake Mitchell.  Hours are from 9 am to 5 pm.  Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for students. 

George, IA is celebrating Freedom Days. The all-day event starts off with a fun run/walk at the recreation trail at 8 a.m. A parade will start at 11:30 a.m. with an antique tractor pull at 12:30 p.m. After a pie auction and evening entertainment, there will be fireworks after 9:30 p.m.

It's the first Saturday of the Youth Art Show & Sale in Sioux Falls.  This free-to-view show features works by local artists 17 years and younger.  The art show  will be held each Saturday through August 2nd from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the Downtown Riverfront Amphitheater between 6th & 8th Streets. 

While you're there, enjoy the music of the Melley Brothers Band and the McCormick Magic Show as part of the Saturdays on the Greenway Children's Series. The entertainment begins at 10 am.

Sounds at the Falls presents rapper Nikko McFadden at Falls Park.  The free concert begins at 7 pm at the historic Queen Bee Mill.

The classic rock group Firefall and special guests Pleasant Valley Sunday and Lawren Erickson perform at Pageant Hill in Custer, SD.  Bring a blanket or portable chairs and enjoy the music and beautiful view.  Doors open at 5 pm.   Tickets are $20.  Free for kids 10 and under.

The free Moonlight Movie playing at Fawick Park in Sioux Falls is Frozen, rated PG. The movie begins at dusk. You can buy snacks at the park to enjoy while watching the movie.

Newton Hills State Park south of Canton is hosting an Independence Day Bike Parade.  Bring your bikes to Shelter 3 at 4:30 pm where the park will provide patriotic decorations.  Judges will pick two winners to lead the parade at 5 pm.  The parade will loop through the campgrounds.  Be sure to wear your helmet.

The Black Hills Roundup includes the Ram Rodeo Series in Belle Fourche, SD.  Activities begin at 8 am with the 95th PRCA Slack at the Roundup Grounds.  A Country Music Showdown begins at 2 pm in Hermann Park.  The rodeo starts at 7 pm in the Rodeo Grounds.  Fireworks will follow the rodeo.

Purchase fresh produce and many other items for sale at the Sioux Falls Farmers Market, across the street from Falls Park. The hours are from 8 am to 1 pm.  The farmers market will be open every Saturday through October.

Vendors are also selling their produce and baked goods at the Sioux Empire Farmers Market at the 8th & Railroad Center on the East Bank of downtown Sioux Falls.  Hours are from 8 am to 1 pm.

Learn about Pipestone, Minnesota's paranormal past during guided ghost tours through the downtown area.  The tour starts at 8 pm at the Pipestone County Museum.  The cost is $5.  The tours run each Saturday night through the Labor Day weekend.
