Learn about South Dakota's ancient past at Archeology Awareness Days in Mitchell. Experts will demonstrate skills used by the first Americans including flint-knapping, hide tanning, archery and pottery making. You can also visit with archeologists from England's University of Exeter and Augustana College as they unearth artifacts at the Native American Village on the Shores of Lake Mitchell. Hours are from 9 am to 5 pm. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for students.
George, IA is celebrating Freedom Days. The all-day event starts off with a fun run/walk at the recreation trail at 8 a.m. A parade will start at 11:30 a.m. with an antique tractor pull at 12:30 p.m. After a pie auction and evening entertainment, there will be fireworks after 9:30 p.m.
It's the first Saturday of the Youth Art Show & Sale in Sioux Falls. This free-to-view show features works by local artists 17 years and younger. The art show will be held each Saturday through August 2nd from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the Downtown Riverfront Amphitheater between 6th & 8th Streets.

Newton Hills State Park south of Canton is hosting an Independence Day Bike Parade. Bring your bikes to Shelter 3 at 4:30 pm where the park will provide patriotic decorations. Judges will pick two winners to lead the parade at 5 pm. The parade will loop through the campgrounds. Be sure to wear your helmet.
The Black Hills Roundup includes the Ram Rodeo Series in Belle Fourche, SD. Activities begin at 8 am with the 95th PRCA Slack at the Roundup Grounds. A Country Music Showdown begins at 2 pm in Hermann Park. The rodeo starts at 7 pm in the Rodeo Grounds. Fireworks will follow the rodeo.
