Saturday Boredom Busters

Make miracles happen ahead of prom season during Prom Xtravaganza at Elegant Xpressions Boutique in Sioux Falls.  There are discounts on all prom dresses through the weekend.  A portion of the sales goes to the Children's Miracle Network.  Today's hours are from 10 am to 6 pm.  Sunday's hours are from noon to 4 pm.  Elegant Xpressions is located at 57th & Western.

Celebrate Christmas with the Animals at the Great Plains Zoo.  From 1-4 pm, visitors can watch the animals unwrap gifts filled with edible treats, munch on garlands made of Cheerios and nibble on Christmas trees.  The cost is a paid admission, free for zoo members.

Sioux Falls Parks & Rec is hosting a Candy Cane Hunt in upper Tuthill Park.  Kids can search for hidden candy canes beginning at 10:45 am.  Kids win prizes for finding certain lucky canes.

The Children's Theatre Festival is a morning of mime, songs and familiar kids stories at the Harrisburg Performing Arts Center.  The festival is at 10 am.  The cost is $4 for adults, $2 for kids.

Join Girl Scouts for a night of music, dancing, crafts and mystery at Glamour & Glitz 2014 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.  The fun goes from 6-9 pm.  Admission is $5 for Girl Scouts, $20 for non-Girl Scouts.

The Huron Shopping Expo and Flea Market feature vendor selling a variety of items from canned goods, to arts, crafts, antiques & collectibles, rebuilt computers and new tablets.  It goes from 10 am to 4 pm at Crossroads Hotel & Convention Center in downtown Huron.  Admission is free. 

Learn about the sport of curling during a free demonstration hosted by Sioux Falls Curling.   The event goes from 1-3 pm at Campus Park in Sioux Falls.  Sioux Falls Curling will furnish all the equipment.

Sioux Falls historian Bob Kolbe is auctioning his stoneware collection at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.  The collection includes rare liquor jugs, crocks, butter tubs and more.  The auction begins at 10 am.
