LUVERNE, MN -
More than two-dozen bands will march through Luverne, Minnesota for the 63rd annual Tri-State Band Festival. The parade begins at 9:30 am on Luverne's Main Street. That's followed by the field competition at the Luverne High School football field at 12:30 pm. A $5 band festival button will get you into the field competition.
The Sioux Falls Roller Dollz are back from their summer break as they host a double header of roller derby action. In the first bout, the Sioux Falls Killa Beez take on the the Rushmore Rollers. The second bout features the Roller Dollz vs.the Minnesota Roller Girls. The gates at the Multi-Cultural Center open at 6 pm, they'll roll at 7 pm. Tickets are $12, kids 10 and under are free. The Multi-Cultural Center is located at 5th & Main in downtown Sioux Falls.
The Sioux Empire Pet Expo is a one-stop spot for pet services products and education. The expo is from 10 am to 4 pm at the Expo Building at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. It features demonstrations, entertainment, a photo booth, kids corner and pet contests. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for kids, free for ages 4 and under.
Kaija Bonde and Jill Johnson perform the musical Always... Patsy Cline at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Sioux Falls. The performance is at 7:30 pm. Tickets start at $20.
Spirits of the Forest is a self-guided hike through Good Earth State Park at Blood Run, southeast of Sioux Falls. The 7 pm hike will be followed by hot apple cider around the campfire. Good walking shoes and bug spray are recommended for the one-mile hike.
Tayden's Ride is a fundraiser for 4-year-old Tayden Grohs who's being treated for a brain tumor. The benefit in Sherman, SD will include a motorcycle ride and a horse trail ride beginning at noon. There will also be a pork loin meal, auction and live music at The Bullet, on Sherman's main street.
West Nidaros Lutheran Church in Crooks is hosting a Harvest Festival Supper from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. The roast beef dinner costs $10 for adults, $4 for kids ages 7-12, $1.50 for ages 6 and under.
All vehicles are welcome to take part in the Team HOPE Cancer Benefit Poker Run. Registration goes from noon to 1 pm at Joe's Substation in Lesterville, SD. The $20 registration fee includes a meal and a door prize. Stops include Tabor, Tyndall, Scotland, Menno and finishing at Trev's Bar in Lesterville. A street dance will follow.
