Saturday Boredom Busters

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

     A benefit for cancer patient Dan Dammer will be held at the 18th Amendment in Sioux Falls.
     The benefit goes from 1-6 pm and includes silent auctions and raffles.
     You don't have to be present to win.
     A percentage of food and drink sales will go toward medical expenses.
     The 18th Amendment is located at 41st and Grange.    
  
     An estate sale of personal items belonging to the late Senator George McGovern will be held this weekend in Sioux Falls.
     The sale takes place from 9 am to 6 pm today and Sunday at 2615 S. Ridgeview Way.
     The items for sale include books, photographs, furniture, jewelry and statues.
     Sales of McGovern's book An American Journey will go to Feeding South Dakota.

     The group, Sioux Falls Curling is hosting a free demonstration of the sport of curling at Sherman Park.
     You're invited to give curling a try beginning at 1 pm.
     Sioux Falls Curling will furnish the equipment.
     Sherman Park is located at 15th and Kiwanis.

     Minnesota's famed St. Olaf Choir kicks off its national tour with a performance at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls.
     The concert is at 3 pm.
     Tickets are $23.50.

     The first of this year's Legislative Coffees will be held in Sioux Falls today.
     You can ask questions of your state lawmakers beginning at 10 am at the Holiday Inn City Centre in downtown Sioux Falls.
     Brandon-area lawmakers will hold a legislative coffee at Bethany Meadows in Brandon beginning at 9 am.

     People in Parkston will take a Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics.
     Registration is at noon at Boog's Bar.
     Contestants will jump into a dumpster filled with cold water starting at 1 pm.

     It's A Snow Day! features children's entertainer Phil Baker performing at Dakota Middle School Performing Arts Center in Rapid City.
     The hour long show includes music, magic and interactive fun beginning at 10:30 am.
     The cost is $5, free for ages 15 and under.
     It's A Snow Day! is a fundraiser for Children's Care Hospital & School.
