Saturday Boredom Busters

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

     A White Cane March will draw attention to laws and procedures that allow blind and visually impaired people to safely walk in Sioux Falls.
     The march is at 11 am at the 12th and Phillips in downtown Sioux Falls.
     That's followed by a panel discussion at the downtown library at 12:30 pm, followed by the film "On Going Blind" at 1 pm.
     Monday, October 15th is National White Cane Day.

     The Kids' Costume Swap goes from 9-11 am at the downtown Sioux Falls library.
     Customers who've donated gently-used Halloween costumes can shop from 9-10 am.
     All others can shop from 10-11 am.

     Wilmont, Minnesota is hosting Octoberfest.
     Enjoy a day of inflatables and face painting, food and live music at the ball field in Wilmont.
     Octoberfest is a fundraiser for the Wilmont Fire Relief Association.

     A Benefit for cancer patient Brad Barron will be held from 2 pm to closing at Woody's Pub & Grill in Sioux Falls.
     The benefit includes door prizes, drawings, 50/50 and a silent auction.
     A bean bag tournament takes place at 3 pm.
     Woody's is located at 900 South Marion Road.
     Donations can also be made at any Dacotah Bank in South Dakota.

     It's the first-ever women vs. men roller derby bout in South Dakota as the Sioux Falls Roller Dollz go up against the Fargo Rock Riot.
     The doors open at 6 pm at the Sioux Falls Coliseum.
     They roll at 7 pm.
     Tickets are $12, free for kids 10 and under.
     Proceeds go to the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation.

     Mayor Mike Huether will discuss any topics involving the City of Sioux Falls during his Listening & Learning Session.
     It will be held from 9-10:30 am at the West 10th Street Hy-Vee.

     Strawbale Winery at Renner is hosting a Harvest Festival from 11 am to 5 pm.
     The festival includes food, wine, music games and live music.
     Admission is $5 a carload.

     Pick your own pumpkins from the patch during Pumpkin Festival at Country Apple Orchard this weekend.
     Today's hours are from 10 am to 5 pm, Sunday's hours are from noon to 5 pm.
     Country Apple Orchards is located 4 miles south of Sioux Falls on Minnesota Avenue.

     The Stampede hockey team takes on the Fargo Force at the Sioux Falls Arena.
     They'll drop the puck at 7:05 pm.
     Tickets start at $8.

     World Market is hosting a Halloween Wine Tasting from 1-4 pm.
     Costumes are optional.
     World Market is located at 2804 South Louise in Sioux Falls.

     A Benefit Poker Run for Gerit Callies, who was injured in a motorcycle race, will be held at noon at Spike's in Hartford.
     All vehicles are welcome.
