Sanford Health is demolishing 22 homes in central Sioux Falls to make way for a parking lot. The $750,000 project will turn two square blocks into more parking for Sanford Health staff.
While parking lot studies have indicated that existing parking is sufficient around the medical center, this lot of 341 stalls for staff will free up closer parking around the hospital for visitors and patients.
The demolition will get underway between 18th & 20th Streets & Menlo and Walts Avenues in June. The parking lot is expected to be complete by the middle of August.
Habitat for Humanity will go through the homes and salvage any materials that can be reused.
