The Sanford Pentagon is expected to bring about one and a half million visitors to Sioux Falls every year.
With this kind of attention, the crew is working hard to ensure this facility will be top-notch.
"All sorts of youth tournaments. AAU tournaments. We have our academies here. People can come and rent the facility; can rent the courts for their own practices," Sports Complex General Manager Eric Larsen said.
Larsen says besides the nine full-size courts, there will also be several concession stands, locker rooms and a few areas dedicated to honoring the past.
"A round area and in that we're going to have the South Dakota High School Hall of Fame. And they'll have displays in there on the walls. I think that will be really interesting for people to see," Larsen said.
Even the pathways leading into the Heritage Court will be covered with past and present basketball stars. The Heritage will host the Skyforce, along with some other big events to be announced in upcoming months.
Seating for the Heritage is designed to give everyone the best seat in the house, but there are luxury boxes.
"Our suites that we're not selling on a contract basis, they'll be available game by game. Event by event. So if there's a concert in here, you'd be able to rent this for 49 of your closest friends," Larsen said.
But no matter where you sit, the crew behind it believes your experience will be like nothing else.
"You may find something around the country with nine courts in it. But it won't be set up this way; it won't have the amenities this has. And it won't have the Heritage Court," Larsen said.
Larsen says they hope to have the project completed by September 1.
