Sanford Health: Breast Cancer Initiative

SIOUX FALLS, SD -
KELOLAND News has found documents that lay out Sanford Health's next initiative, which was scheduled to be announced in August.
Thanks to a $100 million gift from T. Denny Sanford, the documents say the health system will establish goals and targets for a Sanford Health National Breast Cancer Institute Initiative.
That calls for the health system to create a world class center for the research, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
In a statement released just days ago, Sanford Health Foundation President Brian Mortenson says, the money will allow the health system to "revolutionize the diagnostic, treatment, research and cure landscapes for a very significant and focused disease area." Mortenson says it's a project that will impact millions of people and families around the world.
KELOLAND News is gathering more information on these developments and will have more on KELOLAND News at Five and Six.
Mr. Sanford gave a $400 million gift to what was then Sioux Valley Hospital in February 2007. It was then renamed Sanford Health and merged with Fargo-based MeritCare in 2009.
