The new Sanford Sports Complex keeps getting more complex by the day.
With 9 football fields, a basketball arena, field house, a hotel, restaurant and soon tennis and hockey facilities to be built on the site, traffic in and out of the complex is getting to be a headache.
When the football games end, the nightmares begin for drivers.
"Getting out of here is really hard to do," Jeanine Barker said.
Jeanine Barker, who's from out of town, enjoys coming to watch her grandson play football, but she doesn't enjoy all the traffic trying to leave at the same time.
"It's just a mess," Barker said.
Technically, there's only one way in and out of the Sanford Sports Complex off Benson Road right now and just like a young quarterback, drivers have to sometimes scramble.
"As to who goes first and who pulls out ahead of you, how many can you let by before you inch your way in," Barker said.
There are no stop lights at this intersection, which can make it difficult to keep traffic moving. Plus, with more sporting facilities going up, drivers can easily get lost.
"Arrive early because it's kind of confusing where everything is at, there's not any big maps or signs telling you where to go," Jon Vandelanotte said.
Soon, the Pentagon will be hosting basketball games, and people are concerned that's only going to add to the congested traffic and places to park.
"They might have to shuttle us in from somewhere else," Barker said.
"Kids love having moms, dads, grandpas, grandmas and uncles come and watch," Vandelanotte said.
But getting all those fans in and out of the congested complex is nothing to cheer about.
"When you get to be older, you have a tendancy to wait til everyone clears out rather than fight it," Barker said.
There is another paved road, but right now it's unmarked which drivers say only adds to their confusion.
