It was a full house at Sanaa's 8th Street Gourmet as people came to have dinner while donating to a business struck by tragedy.
The line was out the door as people waited in line for dinner. There was a free-will donation that was going to the Co-Op Natural Foods that was heavily damaged by a fire last month. When Sanaa Abourezk first heard of the news she knew she wanted to help raise money for the business, because she knows any business could have experienced that loss.
“I think every small business in town was thinking the same thing. You start looking around and say 'Oh my God, how would I replace this? How would I replace this?’ It's scary. It's a scary feeling. Something you work hard, you build it and then it's gone,” Abourezk said.
Abourezk hopes the Co-Op builds back as quickly as possible, and she notes that there are farmers that only sell their food with the Co-Op.
