The city of Mitchell's sales tax collections dropped nearly three percent in 2013 compared to 2012.
The city collected $10.4 million from its two percent sales tax in 2013.
In 2012, the city's sales tax generated nearly $10.7 million. That was a record amount and a 9.2 percent increase from 2011.
City Finance Officer Marilyn Wilson says the record collections set in 2012 was due in part to money spent to repair homes from a large hailstorm.
