Roads, State Offices, Mt. Rushmore Closed
March 24, 2009, 7:13 AM
Much of western South Dakota remains in the grip of a blizzard. Interstate 90 is closed from Sheridan, Wyoming, to Chamberlain, and U.S. Highway 212 is closed from the Wyoming border to Newell.
The South Dakota Transportation Department advises no travel in most of the region.
State offices will be closed until at least 1 p.m. Tuesday in Belle Fourche, Spearfish, Sturgis, Rapid City, Lead-Deadwood, and Wall because of the blizzard.
And Mount Rushmore National Memorial remains closed Tuesday. Superintendent Gerard Baker says a decision on operations for the rest of the week will be announced later.
