Resident Wants Cleanup Of Rural SD Trailer Park

April 8, 2012, 12:47 PM

A rural Brookings woman wants county commissioners to order a cleanup of a mobile home park that's strewn with trash, scrap metal and abandoned appliances.

Brookings County commissioners Alan Gregg and Dennis Falken said they would visit the property and speak to owner Kelly Koenig.

Beverly Jensen told the commissioners she visited the Southbrook Estates park and thought the trash made it unsafe for the children who live there. She showed them pictures of trash piles, scrap metal and washers and dryers left outdoors.

Koenig says there's been progress in cleaning up the park. He says one resident likes to hoard things.  He says one of Jensen's photos was taken after someone had moved and left their furniture. He says it's been taken to the dump.
