Renewing Community Pool Passes

May 9, 2014, 7:30 AM by Stephanie Gregory

Renewing Community Pool Passes
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Soon, school will be out for the summer and kids will flock to the swimming pool. Just last year the Parks Department rolled out a new electronic swim pass and if you have one, you can begin renewing it now.

"Spring is finally here and people are going to be thinking about outdoors and getting out to the pools because it's not going to be long and the pools are going to be open to the public," Jean Pearson of Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation said.

To get ready for pools to open in just two weeks, one thing you need to remember, renew your swim pass. If you had a key fob last year, the Parks Departments is asking you to dig that out and use it again this year.

"It is a little bit unique because we did roll into an online or an electronic key fob system last year so we encouraged folks to hang on to their key fobs year to year because," Pearson said.

However, if you happen to lose it over the winter, the Department will charge you a small fee.

"It's renewable, we're not going to be handing out new ones and unfortunately if you did misplace it or you tossed it, there is a five dollar replacement fee," said Pearson.

If you need to renew or get a brand new pass, you can either do that on the City's website or stop by one of the community centers in town. You can also get a pass when the pools open on May 23rd.
