Another day in eastern KELOLAND with below average highs, I've already heard comments of "this is nothing like last March."
Well when you look at the numbers, the first four days were close.
It's hard to remember, but we started last March below average with an average high for the first four days at 32 degrees. Our first four days this March averaged 31. After the fourth last year, the temps took off and we averaged 68 degrees for the rest of the month. During that time our lowest high temperature was 48 degrees on Match 8.
Sioux Falls hasn't had a high temp of 48 degrees since we hit 52 degrees on December 6. But we've already "doubled" our snow amount from last March with a total of .6 inches.
Last March Sioux Falls had a total precipitation of 77-hundredths, an inch below average. There's a chance we can pass that with the rain and snow expected this weekend.
