Reliving 60 Years In One Night

Reliving 60 Years In One Night
Doug Lund and Steve Hemmingsen

Reliving 60 years in one night; that was the theme at the Minnehaha County Historical Society's Third Thursday Program.

It honored KELO-TV and its six decades of commitment to covering news. The keynote speakers were longtime anchormen Steve Hemmingsen and Doug Lund.

“I think KELO's legacy is still being defined. Just because I retired and Doug retired and Leo Hartig retired doesn't mean that's where the legacy stops. It's still building I think and I don't know when it stops, maybe it never stops with any luck,” Hemmingsen said.

KELO-TV was the first station to sign on the air in this market back in 1953.

This article has been revised to reflect the following correction:
In a previous version of this story, Leo Hartig's name was misspelled. It's been corrected.
