Relief Fund Set Up For People In Wessington Springs
WESSINGTON SPRINGS, SD -

The long process of recovery is underway in Wessington Springs after a tornado tore through the town Wednesday evening.

The tornado was an EF-2 with a two mile long path that was 30 yards wide with peaks winds of 127 miles per hour.

Structural engineers have added to the list of homes that are uninhabitable.  There are more than 25 on that list now but the number could go up as they tour more homes.

As for critical infrastructure, power is back for an area west of Dakota.  Crews are bringing in lines to help restore it in other areas.

Inmates with the Department of Corrections will be coming in to help pick up debris.  Senator John Thune is expected to tour town on Friday.

A relief fund is set up for people in Wessington Springs.  You can donate through the Red Cross website or call 1-800-RED-CROSS; make sure to designate your donation for Wessington Springs.

Donations may also be dropped off at American Bank & Trust locations in Wessington Springs, Alpena, Huron, Wolsey, Miller, Huron-Walmart, Pierre, Mellette and DeSmet.  Those donations will be forwarded to the Red Cross.
