Redfield Parent Shares Concerns About Classroom Incident

Redfield Parent Shares Concerns About Classroom Incident

Parents are shocked at what allegedly happened inside an art class in Redfield after a teenager is left in charge.

What started as a normal day in art class turned into a moment some sixth graders will never forget.

Last week, a substitute teacher in an art class put a 17-year-old student in charge. According to one of the students in the classroom, the high school student ordered several others to lie face flat on the ground as he hit their desks with a metal ruler. The students thought it was a joke at first, but were quickly scared. Parents are still wondering how something like this could even take place.

"I never thought that my kid would be telling me something to this degree, you know? You hear about it from other states and other communities, but when it's yours, it is shocking," parent Matt Risetter said.

We did reach out to the school district about this incident. The interim superintendent isn't commenting, citing state law.
