Red Cross Helps Following Floods

The American Red Cross is assisting eastern South Dakota and northwest Iowa residents in the wake of flooding this week. The Red Cross has been assisting residents with clean-up kits and lodging.

40 free clean-up kits were delivered to the Canton Fire Hall.  The kits include a mop, broom, squeegee, Clorox Bleach and other cleaning materials.

The Red Cross also found lodging for a family whose basement apartment flooded.

In Rock Valley and Rock Rapids, Iowa, the Red Cross will continue providing shelter Tuesday night.  An Emergency Response Vehicle was dispatched Tuesday morning from Sioux Falls to northwest Iowa to assist with the response.

The Red Cross is preparing for more storms Tuesday night and Wednesday. They recommend families also prepare in case they need to evacuate their homes.
