A Rapid City woman who set fire to the bedroom she shared with her fiance is going to jail for six months and must pay for the damage.
26-year-old Allison Hedrick was sentenced Tuesday to a suspended five-year prison sentence and 10 years of probation.
She earlier pleaded guilty to reckless burning.
Hedrick will serve 180 days in jail and pay more than $70,000 in restitution to Gary Buckingham, the homeowner.
He found his house filled with smoke when he arrived home on Feb. 19. The fire damage was confined to one bedroom, but the whole house suffered smoke damage.
Authorities say Hedrick poured gasoline throughout the bedroom and set fire to it in an attempt to hide the theft of things belonging to her fiance.
