RC Organizations Team Up To Help Kids In Need

Some Rapid City organizations are teaming up to raise money for children in the community.

Every year, the Rapid City Fire Department partners with the Rapid City Police Department, Rapid City Rush and other organizations to help children in need. These departments support Toys for Tots through events such as the Teddy Bear Toss and Fire-Police Department Broomball Challenge.

The Teddy Bear Toss happens on Friday. Fans can bring stuffed animals to throw onto the ice when the Rapid City Rush score their first goal. All donations will go to Toys for Tots.

The Fire-Police Department Broomball Challenge will be held at Main Street Square on Saturday at 11 a.m. The broomball game was originally scheduled for Saturday, December 7, but due to the cold, officials moved it to the following weekend.

Last year, these events raised more than $3,900 and 1,300 toys to benefit children in the community.
