Rapid City middle school students learn first-hand why it’s better to give than receive.
Students at Southwest Middle School collected More than 250 toys for the "Toys For Tots" program.
Besides bringing holiday cheer to the hallways this week, the toy drive gave student council members a lesson in giving that fits perfectly with the season.
“I thought it was awesome how many presents we got and the generosity of so many families,” Eighth Grader Sidney Holleran said.
“I liked how people could just like come in and help the community out, and everyone here really helped out and brought gifts,” Seventh Grader Lexi Haugen said.
The gifts collected at Southwest Middle School will be picked up this week and taken to a distribution center at the county fairgrounds, where they will be added to thousands of other new toys from across the community to make Christmas a happier holiday for children in need.
