A Rapid City man is in trouble for stealing a car and leading law enforcement on a chase.
The vehicle's owner called Rapid City police just before midnight Thursday to report the stolen car. The owner had started the vehicle and was letting it warm up near 5th Street. When the owner went to get in the 1997 Lincoln Continental, it was pulling away in the parking lot.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle on Interstate 190, it kept going. Law enforcement chased it west on I-90 and finally stopped it near Sturgis, after using a tire deflation device.
19-year-old Angelo Richards was charged with Eluding Law Enforcement, Failing to Report an Accident, Driving without a Driver's License, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle and outstanding Warrants.
And as of Friday morning, Richards faces more charges. After investigating, detectives added four more counts of Grand Theft involving stolen vehicles and property. Police believe Richards is the suspect in several ongoing Grand Theft investigations.
