RAPID CITY, SD -
A 94-year-old Rapid City woman died and four others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.
Authorities say Audrey Gerlach was a passenger in a car driven by 95-year-old Charles Gerlach. Charles was driving eastbound on Highway 16B in Rapid City and failed to use the left-turn lane as he tried to turn onto Black Hills Boulevard. The vehicle entered westbound traffic and was struck by a van.
Audrey Gerlach was taken to a local hospital where she died of her injuries.
Another passenger in the car, Eugene Lund, 98, received life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. Charles Gerlach received minor injuries.
Authorities say everyone in the car was wearing their seatbelt.
The driver of the van, 31-year-old Kenneth Leathers, received serious injuries, as did a passenger in the vehicle. Authorities say they were both wearing seatbelts, as well.
