Rapid City Finally Getting Snow

January 12, 2013, 7:15 AM by Scot Mundt

Rapid City Finally Getting Snow

While the snow in western KELOLAND caused headaches for travelers, it was a welcome sight for those looking for moisture.  Through the calendar year of 2012, Rapid City was nearly five inches below average for moisture.

Much like the rest of KELOLAND, Rapid City has been missing a lot of the snow. In fact, it's been over a year since a significant snowstorm hit Rapid City. You'll have to go back to November 2011 when over ten inches blanketed the city.

That month alone gave Rapid City over half of its total for the snow season as only 22-and-a-half inches fell in the city that has averaged just over 39 inches since 1950.
