Ransom Church Gives Clothes To Those In Need

August 18, 2012, 5:57 PM by Jenna Petrak

Ransom Church Gives Clothes To Those In Need
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The dimensions of a Sioux Falls church turned into a larger than life closet.

The Ransom Church held its quarterly event, which organizers call 'The Closet.' Each person gets two shopping bags to fill with the clothes they find and it's all free of charge.

Although shoppers are the ones reaping the benefits of some new clothing, the volunteers are gaining something too.

"I love to shop. I think it's fun. So to see these people with smiles on their faces and coming up saying, do you have this, do you have that and being able to lead them to what exactly it is that they need, it's a very rewarding experience," event director Tina Schmutterer said.

All of the clothes are donated through area consignment stores. So, Schmutterer says one way you can volunteer indirectly is by taking your gently used clothes to the stores.

And organizers say they’ll be looking for new items for the next ‘Closet’ event because all of Saturday’s items were gone by 1:30 p.m. The next 'Closet' event at the Ransom Church will be held October 20.

In addition, the pastor’s laptop was taken. If you have any information on the missing laptop, you can call the church.
