Friday proved to be a soggy day in Sioux Falls as the drizzle and mist stuck around through the morning hours. The actual rain amounts didn't add to too much on Friday, but there are some areas that received a lot of rain during the first week of August.
This map shows the rain amounts since the beginning of the month. As you can see, areas just south of Pierre and to the southeast picked up the highest amounts. Totals here are at two to four inches or more. The "more" is especially true in northeast Tripp County, this is where we've had some email reports of over eight inches. Let's not forget the Hills where amounts of over two inches in a short amount of time on Tuesday led to flash flooding.
Of course, there are areas that have received far less. This includes areas northeast of Rapid City along with east central and northeast KELOLAND.
The weekend features chances for rain with mostly dry days coming for early next week.
