Rain And Wind For Last Day Of JazzFest

July 28, 2012, 7:03 PM by Michaela Read

Rain And Wind For Last Day Of JazzFest
SIOUX FALLS -

A sky full of clouds has been a rare sight this summer.

"What is this? The 38th day of no rain and today [Saturday] it rained," Sioux Falls Blues and Jazz Society Member Robert Joyce said.

While most outdoor events this summer were concerned about triple digit temperatures, the third day of JazzFest featured a different type of forecast.

"It stopped raining about an hour ago, so all it did was delay our crew from getting things ready," Joyce said.

JazzFest officials decided to cancel the noon act to keep everything on schedule. And even though the weather has changed it hasn't stopped people from coming out.

"I'm a Joe Walsh fan and Robert Randolf, so we're here to see those two acts," JazzFest Attendee Claude Brinson said.

For Jazz fans like Brinson a little rain isn't going to stop him from enjoying the live music.

"I like this better then if it was 105-106 degrees, you can always put more clothes on but it's hard to take clothes off in public," Brinson said.

But even with the rain and wind, the show must go on.

"It's mother nature so you just roll with it and you do what you need to," Joyce said.

And although weather can be unpredictable, there is one thing Joyce can predict.

"I can tell you almost definitely, it's not going to snow," said Joyce.

Joyce thinks the cooler temperatures will work in their favor later Saturday evening. He expects a big crowd for the headline act, Joe Walsh, at 10 p.m.
