HARROLD, SD -

The South Dakota Pulse Processors plant near Harrold plans to employ 14 people initially and possibly expand to as many as 21.

The $4.5 million plant will process pulse crops such as lentils, field peas and chickpeas. CEO and President Steven Brown said  production employees will earn $15 an hour, with managers earning more.

The company plans to start construction of the plant this fall and begin processing yellow field peas early next year.
