Public Sees Inside Of Events Center For First Time
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

After years of debate, a public vote, and months of heavy construction, people in Sioux Falls are finally get their first sneak peek inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. While it won't be done for a while, public tours are letting folks inside.

In its first showing to the public, the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center is already making an impression.

"I didn't really think it'd be this big," Isaac Benson said.

Over 500 people got a look at how the construction of the new event center is coming along. SMG staff was on hand to answer questions and give updates on when and where new amenities are going to be added. Some of the next big installations inside will be seats and the center-hung Daktronics scoreboard.

When the ribbon is cut, there's numerous events that the public is looking forward to.

"Well we go to a lot of hockey games and watch a lot of bull riding and stuff and monster trucks and off-road four wheelers and bikes and stuff. I guess whatever they bring we'll come and watch," Steven Oligmuller said.

"Monster trucks and stuff, and I think that'd be kind of interesting to see in an indoor place," Benson said.

No matter what the event is, people believe money will be brought in when the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center open its doors.

"In Sioux Falls I think it would bring in a lot of tourism and just a lot more money for the state," Benson said.

"Probably bring a lot of money here and a lot of people I hope come here because of the concerts. A lot of them go out of town and go to other place and I hope they keep the money right here in town," Oligmuller said.

And the excitement will be even higher when the plans that are just paper and ink right now, will be finished for everybody to see.

For people that missed the sneak peek, you still have time. The event center will be open to the public Saturdays and Sundays through March 30.
