The Walmart tug-of-war continues as the big box store challenges a recent petition to put a rezoning plan in southern Sioux Falls to a public vote. This latest move has some people wondering what's next.
The Save Our Neighborhood group submitted more than 6,300 petition signatures to refer a City Council decision to rezone about 40 acres of land from agricultural use to commercial use. Company officials believes as many as one-third of the signatures on the petitions are invalid.
Walmart had until Monday to challenge the signatures. Now the City Clerk must look through every signature Walmart has contested and check if each one is valid. The process could take several weeks.
