The Sioux Falls Regional Airport currently has five airlines serving customers and with the announcement that Allegiant is adding direct flights to Tampa, Florida, many are hoping that's the start of more options and decreased prices.
Allegiant Air is known as a discount carrier and is adding flights into and out of Sioux Falls. Starting in November, the airline will offer service directly from Sioux Falls to Tampa.
Tickets for current Allegiant flights vary depending on destination. On November 1, flying Allegiant to Las Vegas would total $115 while flying to Phoenix would total $181.
Frontier is a similar discount carrier. Hopping on Frontier's November 1 flight to Denver will cost you $132.
Delta, United and American also serve Sioux Falls, but are more known for connecting flights. However, you can also purchase one way and direct flights from those carriers. For example, flying on Delta to Minneapolis on November 1 comes with a $411 price tag.
Getting on a United Flight to Denver will cost you $299, while United to Chicago is $430.
American also flies to Chicago and will cost you $430, while an American flight to Dallas/Ft. Worth runs $380.
For the purpose of the price check, we entered the pricing for one checked bag and one carry-on bag.
It's also important to know that you can always look for deals on flights and the numbers in this check didn't account for any promotions, but did use the cheapest option for each flight as listed on the carrier's website.
