Possible Downtown Events Center Location Announced
February 24, 2011, 2:08 PM
SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The architectural team hired to build a Sioux Falls Events Center has chosen the site east of Cherapa Place as a potential location downtown.
Sink Combs Dethlefs and Koch Hazard Architects say parking and the ability to share amenities and spaces are two challenges for the location. But the team decided at the end of the day, when weighing several other options, the site is the best and strongest downtown.
The city says this is a key milestone for the project that will allow the architectural team to now do a comparative analysis between the downtown site and the existing Arena/Convention Center location.
The architectural team says the parking available at an events center can help it thrive or label it a failure and that will be an important next step in that analysis.
KELOLAND News will have more on today's announcement as well as reaction from the Build It Downtown group later today on KELOLAND News.
