Sioux Falls police have a lead in a recent homicide investigation.
Surveillance video from an area business caught video of a "person of interest" in regards to the killing of Kari Kirkegaard. Sioux Falls Police Public Information Officer Sam Clemens says police believe the person in the video was in the neighborhood around the time of Kirkegaard's death. Clemens says the person was also seen riding a bicycle in the area.
While police aren't sure the person is connected to the homicide, they do want to identify and talk to him. Currently, Clemens says, there are no suspects in this investigation.
A family member found Kirkegaard dead in her home Sunday evening. Police say her body was found in the bathroom, but there wasn't anything that stood out as suspicious. It wasn't until an autopsy was complete on Monday that police determined the death was a homicide.
Investigators are still trying to figure out why Kirkegaard's bed sheets are missing from the home. They are continuing to ask people to be on the lookout for the sheets.
If you have information about the homicide or recognize the person in the video, you're asked to call CrimeStoppers at 605-367-7007.
A vigil will be held Wednesday night for Kirkegaard at 6 p.m. at the west end the Garfield Elementary School parking lot.
