Investigators say speed and alcohol may have been factors in a crash that sent a woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Sioux Falls Police say a Buick Century driven by Jessica Chalmers, 36, was going north on Terry Avenue when Chalmers ran a flashing red light at the intersection with Madison Street, colliding with a Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Police says Chalmers not wearing her seat belt and was thrown from the car. She remains in the hospital with head and neck injuries.
The other driver, a 25-year-old woman, was treated and released.
Police say the cause of the crash is still under investigation and it could take several days to complete the reconstruction.
