Plankinton Crash Kills Two
July 22, 2003, 9:16 AM
Two people from Wisconsin died in a one-vehicle rollover accident near Plankinton. The Highway Patrol did not release their names, but a newspaper in Green Bay, Wisconsin identified the dead as 48-year-old James Berner and his wife, 48-year-old Barbara Berner of De Pere, Wisconsin.
Highway Patrol Trooper J.C. Smith says the couple's 17-year-old daughter was seriously hurt and a 19-year-old son suffered minor injuries in the accident yesterday forenoon.
Smith says the teenage girl was driving when the vehicle drifted to the shoulder of the median. He says she apparently overcorrected, sending the vehicle across two lanes and into the ditch, where it rolled several times.
Smith says the family was traveling to Wyoming.
