Plan In Place For Livestock Loss Disposal

The Rapid City – Pennington County Emergency Management team has a plan ready for the disposal of livestock after last week’s snow storm.

Pits are being dug for livestock losses and these pits will be open to all producers on Monday, October 14, free of charge.

The locations will be announced on Monday morning.

Producers are reminded to document all their livestock losses with pictures, vaccination and hauling receipts or any other record for possible future use in disaster relief programs. Third party verification of losses is recommended.

Any questions regarding livestock identification should contact the South Dakota Brand Board at 605-773-3324.
