Federal investigators say pilot error is the likely cause of a plane crash last year that killed a Pierre man.
Sixty-nine-year-old Paul Lee died last Aug. 28 when his experimental airplane crashed on takeoff at the Pierre airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board's final report says Lee's loss of control of the plane probably led to the crash. It says a contributing factor was that an entrance door opened while the plane was in the air. Officials did not determine why the door opened.
