An effort to clean up the Missouri River area in Pierre generated more than 2.5 tons of garbage.
More than 80 volunteers spent three hours on Wednesday fishing garbage from the river and picking it up along the shoreline.
It was the fifth year the cleanup event was held. Last year's effort generated a similar amount of trash.
This year's debris included 540 pounds of tires, 640 pounds of scrap metal, 1,900 pounds of rubble including lumber, and 2,240 pounds of other garbage.
