People Line Up At Capital One's Job Fair

December 13, 2011, 4:54 PM by Don Jorgensen

People Line Up At Capital One's Job Fair
SIOUX FALLS, SD - Capital One is now taking applications to fill 400 new positions in Sioux Falls. And for those who have been looking for work, Capital One's job fair couldn't have come at a better time.

One by one, people began lining up at Capital One's job fair for a chance to do something they haven't done in months: work.

"I'm currently unemployed; just moved to Sioux Falls," Steve Holm said.

Holm says he has lots of experience in construction. He jokes he's back strong, but weak minded and wants to improve on that by working for Capital One.

"Looking for a new opportunity.  I don't have a lot of experience in a field.  I don't have a lot of experience in a call center job; just looking to broaden my work experience," Holm said.

It's not often a company moves to town and looks to hire 400 new employees. After his sit-down interview, Brad Sundvold likes his chances of getting hired.

"I feel pretty confident actually, really do.  It doesn't look like there are very many people here coming out for interviews.  Kind of crazy.  From what I've heard, there are a thousand people in Sioux Falls who are unemployed and to have 400 jobs here and nobody is coming out for it, come on that's crazy," Sundvold said.

Both men see this as an opportunity to get in on the ground level of a reputable company.

"I think it's a great company.  I think it's going to do wonders for Sioux Falls, you know, the job market being down.  The added 400 jobs is going to really help us out," Holm said.

"It's kind of like Citibank type of thing.  They are a big company and I think they are going to stand ground in Sioux Falls for a long time," Sundvold said.

The job fair is open until 7 p.m. but the application process will continue until the positions are filled.
