Mother Nature is treating Sioux Falls to a much warmer weekend, which had people enjoying all the great outdoors had to offer.
Leland: How fast were you going down those hills today?
Sledder: Super Fast!
The warm weather let children hit Spellerberg Park's sledding hill today. Families at the hill said that today's weather was perfect for sledding. Today's warmth comes just days after a cold snap closed schools across the state. With the warming trend, Kylie Pownell thought the best way to enjoy the weather was with her family.
"It's fun to come out here. Just be with your family and not sit at home and watch TV and watch everybody else come out here and sled," Kylie Pownell said.
The warm weather wasn't just for fun today.
"Figures it's a good time to do it and the wife says get out there and do it so that's what I did," Chris Ellis said.
Chris Ellis used the temperature change to get some yard work done. He cleared his driveway of packed ice and took down his Christmas lights. He usually has a temperature in mind when he gets the urge to step outside.
"Ideally for me it's right around the 30's, 27, something like that. When it starts getting around zero you know I kind of shy away from getting out and running around to much in that," Ellis said.
Ellis has lived in South Dakota before, but just recently moved back after spending seven years in Florida. Whether it's children enjoying a sledding hill, or a man getting work done around the house, he enjoys the ups and downs of South Dakota weather.
"I've got to have snow. Better have something white cover up the dead grass then nothing right? I like it when the leaves fall of, I like it when the leaves come on, I like the four seasons," Ellis said.
And Mother Nature looks to be making sure that more fun; or work; can be done this weekend as the temperatures continue to climb.
