The Knights of Columbus teamed with the Sioux Falls Skyforce to give a new home for a yearly free throw contest.
The Sanford Pentagon hosted the contest, with ages 9-14 competing. Five different councils of the Knights got together, and each council will have 12 winners competing for a chance to take part in a state championship in Chamberlain next month. Jerry Priebe has been taking part in this event for 15 years, and thanks to the Pentagon, he says more kids are able to take part in the contest.
“Not only is it a great venue, a great place to have a free throw contest, it certainly has the size. The difference between past years is that we have five councils in one date, one time to do this shoot. The sheer numbers are what makes it different,” Youth Director Jerry Priebe said.
Each council used to have around 30-40 shooters in each gym, but next year the hope is too have over 300 participants.
