Starting Monday, ranchers in Pennington County have a place to take their dead livestock.
Emergency Management officials have opened up two sites in the county so cattle producers can dispose of animal carcasses. The pits are located at:
- Base Line Road between Sharpe Road and 173 Avenue
- 237th Street between 197th Avenue and Big Foot Road
Officials warn producers must be able to unload the cattle at the drop-off points themselves.
If you are using the pit at 237th Street, drive in to the area from the east at Big Foot Road and exit west towards 197th Avenue.
Officials say ranchers can use these pits for free.
