If you noticed more police cars on the road Monday morning, you're not alone. The second week of school has arrived in Sioux Falls, which means officers are stepping up efforts to get drivers to slow zone in school zones.
The speed limit is 15 miles per hour whenever children are present. Officers will be out in force all week.
In past years, the stepped up patrols have led to hundreds of tickets. Keep in mind, the goal isn't to write out tickets; it's to keep children safe.
