South Dakota Department of Transportation officials announce Interstate 90 between Chamberlain and Mitchell is now open, as well as Interstate 29 between Sisseton and Watertown.
I-90 between Mitchell and Sioux Falls remains closed as well as I-29 between Sioux Falls and Watertown.
Officials say they will make a decision on the status of I-90 Sunday night. They are currently assessing the situation. However, they don't expect to open the rest of I-29 until Monday morning.
Officials say there are white-out conditions in these areas with zero to near zero visibility, icy roads and blowing and drifting snow. All of that is making travel almost impossible.
No travel is advised in many other areas in eastern South Dakota.
